Q1 Review - Are you being consistent in 2023?
Consistency compounds benefit.
Taking good care of yourself is so much easier when you don’t work from deficits. Be consistent and work smarter, not harder.
Did you make a New Year's resolution this year? You're not alone. About 90 million Americans set a goal for the new year. But did you stick to it? Unfortunately, 70 million Americans break their resolution within the first week.
As we approach the end of the first quarter of the year, it's a good time to reflect on our progress. It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of a new year and set lofty goals, only to feel discouraged and give up when we inevitably fall short. That's why this year, I decided to focus on consistency over intensity.
On the first page of my journal, I wrote: "Consistency is better than intensity." This simple statement has made a big difference in how I approach my goals. Instead of aiming for perfection and burning out when I can't keep up, I celebrate small wins and focus on staying on track.
For example, when I'm short on time for my daily workout, I make sure to at least do a few minutes of exercise, even if it's not as intense as I had planned. I also apply this principle to other areas of my life, such as reading. If I can't find time for a full half-hour, I still commit to a few pages before bed.
What about you? How are your 2023 aspirations coming along? If you're struggling, maybe it's time to shift your focus to consistency. Instead of waiting for the perfect moment to start, commit to a small, manageable action every day. It might not feel like much, but it adds up over time.
At Function, we believe in the power of consistency. That's why we're offering a monthly program to help you stay on track with your bodywork goals. By committing to a monthly session, you'll not only enjoy the benefits of regular bodywork, but you'll also receive a 10% discount on all sessions and products.
It's important to recognize the compounding impact of consistent bodywork, whether it's through massage, chiropractic care, or any other modality that supports your physical health. By committing to a regular maintenance schedule, you're not just addressing immediate needs, but you're also investing in your long-term well-being. When you wait until crisis or pain becomes an emergency, you're not only dealing with more intense and prolonged discomfort, but you're also missing out on the cumulative benefits of regular self-care. By making consistency a priority, you're setting yourself up for a happier, healthier future.
